Who doesn't love a free channel to advertise their products? Especially when that channel is Google Shopping.
If you haven't heard, last week Google dropped a HUGE announcement that had me (and the entire Dropified team) super excited for our sellers. In their announcement, they've decided to make Google Shopping free to all US Based merchants starting this week.
What this means for most e-commerce store owners is that you should be jumping out of your chair in celebration. Free sales… oh yeah!!!
Over the course of the last 5 years, I've generated millions of dollars for my own e-commerce stores from Google Shopping and believe it to be one of the most powerful tools most stores can utilize to drive sales.
If you've been meaning to try out Google Shopping, now's the perfect time as they've already started including free listings into the results.
Will There Still Be Paid Listings?
For those who are already advertising with Google Shopping, you can still keep your paid listings. Much like the search results, paid listings will show above the free listings.
While this update is still new and I haven't had a chance to gather enough data on it, I'm predicting a nice blend of paid and free listings will be the best approach to really take advantage of all that Google Shopping has to offer your e-commerce business.
What About Stores Outside Of The US?
For those of you outside the US, unfortunately you will most likely need to wait a bit longer. While they didn't give an exact date on when the rest of the other countries will start rolling out, they did mention they wanted to roll this out globally before the end of the year.
How Do You Setup Free Listings With Google Shopping
If you already have your products listed in Google Merchant Center, chances are there won't be much more you need to do.
However, check out their help center document that outlines what you need to do to take advantage of free listings.
How Can Dropified Help With Google Shopping?
To get your products listed in Google Merchant Center, you'll need a good datafeed that's properly formatted to their specifications.
If your head is spinning just reading the word datafeed, have no fear… Dropified is here.
Ok, aside from the cheesiness of that last sentence, customers on our plans already have the option to add on a properly formatted Google product feed, right from the Dropified dashboard.
How cool is that?
If you're currently a Dropified member and don't yet have the Google Feed feature, now might be a good time to upgrade your plan today to get started.
Now go take action and make sure your products are listed in Google shopping and take advantage of those free sales.
