Frequently Asked Questions
How Do You Start A Dropshipping Business With Shopify?
To start drop shipping with Shopify, you simply need to load up products into you Shopify dropshipping store, market and sell them, then order the products your customers purchase through your product vendors and have them shipped out.
That’s the basics of Shopify dropshipping.
However, if you do this manually, you’ll never have time to grow your business and you’ll probably give up quickly due to how much work is involved.
How To Add Dropshipping To Shopify?
The easiest way to add drop shipping to your Shopify dropshipping store is to integrate Dropified, allowing you to automate everything.
Whether it’s importing your products by the hundreds and even thousands in just seconds, to creating unique bundles, or processing payments and fulfilling orders, Dropified handles all of this for you.
Is Shopify Dropshipping Dead?
Not only is Shopify dropshipping NOT dead, it’s alive and thriving. In fact, the only people saying that it’s dead are those people trying to sell you on a different opportunity, or they are losing a lot of business to competitors that are drop shipping and they are trying to scare you away.
So, how do we know dropshipping isn’t dead? The success of our 44,700+ Dropified users are all the proof we need.
Yes, it’s possible to make money with Shopify, and lots of people do make a lot of money with Shopify. Part of it though depends on HOW/which way you want to make money with Shopify.
The way I look at it, there are two categories of how to make money with Shopify:
- Use Shopify To Create A Store And Sell Products To Customers
- Sell Products And Services To Shopify Users
Use Shopify To Create A Store And Sell Products To Customers
When we look at creating a store (or stores) and selling products to customers, I also break this down into 2 options:
- Start A Regular Store Using Shopify
- Start A Dropshipping Store Using Shopify
For this First Option, you are starting a regular store with Shopify and selling products online. When I call it a “regular” store, I simply mean that you are selling items that you are fulfilling yourself in some fashion. You’re most likely storing inventory, then packing and shipping the products you sell yourself.
You make money through selling products for more than you buy them and the difference in price is hopefully your profit.
While most of these Shopify stores are selling physical products, there are some that are selling digital products as well, so they only have to worry about delivering digital access or services to their customers.
For the Second Option, you are starting a Shopify dropshipping store and selling products online, but you never have to worry about storing inventory, packing and shipping products, or touching them in any way.
It’s a hands-free option for selling through an eCommerce store.
The advantage that this option has over a regular store is that there are drop shipping apps that integrate with Shopify to automate almost every part of this business…
…from filling your stores with products to sell…
…to buying the products, fulfilling and shipping the items and then emailing your customers their invoices and tracking emails.
While there are dozens of dropshipping apps on the market, only the Dropified dropshipping app automates almost every part of your drop ship business for you. No other software comes close.
Sell Products And Services To Shopify Users
Now, when it comes to selling products and services to Shopify Users, I break this down into 3 options:
- Sell Products
- Sell Shopify Services
- Sell Shopify Apps
The First of these Options is to sell products to Shopify Users to help them with their Shopify businesses. This could be Training Products that teach people how to set up, optimize and sell more of their products through their own Shopify stores. It could also be selling them tools that enhance or help them achieve success faster.
For example we have a product called AliExtractor that helps eCommerce owners with product research, so they can find their first, or next hot selling product quickly and easily. A strong part of our sales are from Shopify store owners that are needing help with their product research.
The good news for Dropified users is that they get free access to the AliExtractor software inside their member dashboard and don’t have to pay extra for it.
The Second of these options is to sell services to Shopify users. For example, there are many people that design and sell Shopify templates and themes to skin your stores so they look nice and don’t look like the default template.
Other people sell store setup services, such as product page set up, description writing services, IT help, customer service phone services, and more.
For example, did you know that offering a phone number on your store can increase your conversion up to 6%? The reason why is that customers feel safer and more trusting if they know they can pick up the phone and talk to a real person when they see a phone number prominently displayed.
That’s why Dropified offers its users CallFlex, a customizable customer support phone center that makes the process of setting up a phone system easy for your Shopify store.
The Third option is to sell apps to Shopify users that enhances their experience in running their stores and/or helps them make more sales.
For example, head on over to the Shopify App Store and you will find hundreds of apps that extend the functionality of Shopify ranging from free to several hundreds of dollars or more. You’ll find things like Cart Abandon apps that help rescue lost sales, to one-click upsell apps that help to sell more products to your customers.
Of course one of the top apps is the Dropified app, because it can automate your entire Shopify store for you, from filling your store with products all the way to fulfilling the shipments and sending the receipt and tracking emails to your customers.
These are 5 of the most common ways that you can make money with Shopify. The easiest and most profitable of these options is to run your own Shopify dropshipping store using the Dropified app to power and automate your dropshipping business for you.
With this option, you never have to worry about inventory, shipping products, or manually doing any kinds of daily tasks to set up, sell and fulfill your store sales.
The easiest way to start your own dropshipping business is to use Shopify and the Dropified® drop shipping app in conjunction with each together.
Both of these are easy to set up and get started with, so let’s walk through the setup process for both of these really quickly and get them connected.
The order that you set these up in doesn’t really matter, so let’s start with Shopify.com first.
Getting Started With Shopify.com:

Now it’s time to start marketing your site and selling you products!
You’ve now started your very own dropshipping business with Shopify and you’ve powered and fully automated it with Dropified!
One of the biggest questions we get from people that are checking out dropshipping for the first time, is wondering whether or not dropshipping is legal or not.
After all, you are selling an item first, then turning around and buying that item from a supplier and having them ship it out for you…
…versus the more traditional retail route of buying inventory first, then selling what you have in your inventory.
It’s a great question, and one that we’re happy to say yes, it’s legal to dropship.
Dropshipping Legal Issues
With that said, there are legal concerns you need to consider and due diligence that you must do as a seller / drop shipper in order to stay legally compliant in your business.
For example, from a foundational business level, you need to make sure that you are set up as a legal business entity. Whether it’s an LLC, an S-Corp, and Inc or any number of other options, you need to make sure that you are set up as a business so that you are protected legally. Since we can’t offer legal advice, you need to speak with your attorney and/or your tax advisor.
You also need to make sure you’re set up tax-wise to make sure you are tracking expenses and taxes so that you are paying the correct amount of taxes and you’re tracking all your expenses so that you don’t get hit with any surprises when tax time comes around. And if you’re buying and selling between countries, you need to know international tax law as well, so be sure you have a tax adviser that understands the type of business you’re in.
Next, you need to ensure that you have the right permissions to sell the products that you are selling. In the case of dropshipping, you need to make sure that you are not selling counterfeit items, which can be common when dealing with overseas suppliers. That’s why doing due-diligence is key to your success and your protection. So, while it’s tempting to jump onto a hot selling product, you need to verify that if you are selling the same product, that you have permission…
…or that if you’re selling the actual product itself and not a counterfeit version that will get you in a lot of hot water legally.
When it comes to using different sites to dropship from that are not set up to be traditional dropshipping sites, you’ll want to read and understand their policies regarding dropshipping through those sites.
Dropshipping on Amazon
When it comes to retail sites like Amazon, you can have products drop shipped, but you must do it the right way.
Here’s Amazon’s policy on dropshipping:
Dropshipping, or allowing a third-party to fulfill orders to customers on your behalf, is generally acceptable. If you intend to fulfill orders using a drop shipper, you must always:
- Be the seller of record of your products;
- Identify yourself as the seller of your products on all packing slips, invoices, external packaging, and other information included or provided in connection with them;
- Remove any packing slips, invoices, external packaging, or other information identifying a third-party drop shipper prior to shipping the order;
- Be responsible for accepting and processing customer returns of your products; and
- Comply with all other terms of your seller agreement and applicable Amazon policies.
Examples of drop shipping that is not permitted:
- Purchasing products from another online retailer and having that retailer ship directly to customers; or
- Shipping orders with packing slips, invoices, external packaging, or other information indicating a seller name or contact information other than your own.
- Failure to comply with these requirements may result in the suspension or removal of your selling privileges.
Dropshipping on eBay
eBay does allow dropshipping on its site, and as was the case with Amazon, they have specific policies regarding how you can and cannot dropship through their site.
Here’s eBay’s drop shipping policy:
Drop shipping, where you fulfill orders directly from a wholesale supplier, is allowed on eBay. Remember though, if you use drop shipping, you're still responsible for the safe delivery of the item within the time frame you stated in your listing, and the buyer's overall satisfaction with their purchase.
However, listing an item on eBay and then purchasing the item from another retailer or marketplace that ships directly to your customer is not allowed on eBay. In such cases, we may remove your listings from search, display them lower in search results, or remove them completely from the site. We may also limit, restrict or suspend your ability to buy, sell, or use site features on eBay, and you could lose any special status and/or discounts associated with your account.
As you review each site’s policies for staying compliant with your dropshipping business, there are a few common questions that naturally arise as you begin to dropship.
While you can most likely dropship without them knowing, you should inform them that you are dropshipping for several reasons.
- You don’t want to run into issues in the future where they get upset with you or stop working with you because you did not disclose that you were dropshipping and you lose a solid supplier.
- If they know you are dropshipping, they may be able to work with you more easily and set things up for you to make it easier and possibly more affordable / profitable for you.
Bottom lime, it’s best to be open and honest about your business model so that you have the best relationship possible with your vendors.
In a true dropshipping business, like most traditional retail businesses, your customers do NOT know that you are dropshipping, and there is no reason for them to know. As long as you are selling them exactly what they paid for, you’re just running like any other business out there.
Bottom line, dropshipping is a legal, legitimate business model and just like any other business, you still need to do your due diligence and set up your business under the correct legal and tax designations.
Like anything in life, how well you can do at something really comes down to you.
You could see amazing success, or you could see total failure… and anything in between.
So it’s really up to you on how well you can do.
With that said, a big part of your success comes down to the tools you use.
When it comes to dropshipping, if you try to “save money” and skimp on the tools, then it’s going to be really tough to be successful, because there are so many tasks you need to manage.
So, if you’re just using Shopify, but you’re manually setting up your store products and manually fulfilling all your sales, you’re not only not going to be successful… you’ll probably pretty quickly want to give up.
However, if you partner your Shopify store with the Dropifie drop ship app, and you really use all of the powerful automation tools Dropified provides…
…then you’ve set up the foundation for success.
Please notice, I said that you’ve set up your foundation.
You still need to do solid product research to find high quality, high margin products that your audience wants to buy.
Then you need to be able to find and drive targeted traffic to your stores in order to sell your products.
That’s another reason you need to use Dropified, because we provide the training and the product research tools you need to find the best products and the traffic and marketing training you need to make sure you are driving regular sales to your stores daily.
So, if you really do want to run a successful dropshipping store, you need to set up your foundation first.
That’s why you need to use Dropified to power your Shopify store, and why you need to go through the Dropified training and use our research tools to build that solid foundation that your success will be built upon.
The good news – you can sell practically anything you want through your Shopify store! The true power of Shopify and the practically endless amounts of products you have access to sell comes when you hook the Dropified eCommerce dropshipping app into your Shopify store.
By integrating the two together, Dropified can quickly and easily import thousands of products ready to dropship from sites like AliExpress, Amazon, eBay, Etsy, Walmart and dozens more, giving you literally millions of products that can be drop shipped for you.
So the question becomes more about what you want to sell, rather than what can you sell. To help you with what you want to sell, Dropified has a lot of training inside the membership dashboard that walks you through product research and picking a niche you’d like to sell to, so we’ve got you covered there too.
Shopify Dropshipping Stores
It’s really easy to turn your Shopify store into a dropshipping store quickly when you power it with the Dropified eCommerce dropship app. In fact, it’s the dropship app most successful eCom entrepreneurs trust to power their dropshipping businesses.
The best part is that it’s fast and easy to set up, allowing you to quickly import thousands of products to sell in just seconds, and automating practically every task it takes to run your stores.
So, if your serious about getting into drop shipping, powering your Shopify stores with the Dropified app is a must if you truly want to maximize your results.
After all, the most successful drop shippers focus all of their time and energy on marketing and driving traffic to their stores…
…whereas the drop shippers that struggle usually find themselves getting caught up in the day to day tasks of running their stores – tasks that should be automated.
So, if you’re looking to run a dropshipping store with Shopify, then you need Dropified to power your store and take all of those daily tasks off your shoulders so you can focus on growing your business… and not being stuck with another “job” that you’ll quickly hate.
There are dozens and dozens of eCommerce dropshipping apps that integrate with Shopify that allow you to automate parts of your Shopify dropshipping store.
However, while there are a lot of decent ones that automate parts of the process for you… there is only one dropshipping app that automates practically your entire drop ship business for you.
That app is the Dropified dropship app. This app is truly heads and tails above the rest in terms of automation power, and at the end of the day, it’s the best dropshipping app on the market to power your Shopify drop ship store.
So what makes Dropified so powerful and so much better than any of the other apps on the market?
Not only does Dropified offer so many more features that work better than the rest, Dropified is the only app that truly automates your entire dropshipping business from start to finish.
For example, let’s look at the AliExpress Captchas you need to solve when you place each of your orders. What can be viewed as a simple task to complete on your own that only takes a few seconds out of your day… can actually add up fast as you start to sell a lot of products each day.
Not only do you have to stop what you’re doing and solve them, you’re tied to your computer solving them, and you can’t fulfill your sales until you complete these Captchas. When you start to sell hundreds and even thousands of products each day, having to solve hundreds or thousands of Captchas becomes extremely tedious and time consuming. Not only that, you lose valuable time and money that should be spent driving new sales.
That’s why Dropified created the Captcha Solver, which automatically saves these Captchas for you. That means you never have to fill one out again and you’re not stuck in front of your computer anymore wasting valuable time on tasks you should never have to touch.
And only Dropified offers this valuable Captcha service. Yes, that means if you use any other drop ship app on the market… you’re stuck solving your own Captchas. Or wasting good money paying an employee to do it for you.
Bottom line, Dropified is at the forefront of the dropship automation game, constantly innovating and finding new ways to save you time, money and headaches so that you can focus on growing your business, not stuck inside it as just another employee..
There are literally thousands and thousands of suppliers to choose from when deciding what products to sell in your Shopify store. The key to choosing the best ones comes down to 2 things:
- The Suppliers Product and Seller ratings
- The dropshipping app you choose to automate and power your store.
For the first item, you simply need to review each product you’d like to sell to see the feedback and ratings that others have left to see if the product is high enough quality to want to sell. After you have found some products, it’s just as important to review each Seller to review their ratings and feedback to make sure you are comfortable choosing them as a supplier. Do they offer Returns and Refunds if a product is defective? Do they have enough inventory available if you start to sell a lot of product fast? Do they respond quickly and effectively when you reach out to them?
Getting answers to these questions is critical to ensuring that you have the best suppliers to begin working with.
For the second item, you need to know that you have a dropship app that works hard for you, automating everything it can, so that you can work ON your business, not IN your business. You should never be stuck, wasting your time doing manual tasks to run your store. Your app should do that for you. Instead, you should be able to focus on marketing your store, driving traffic and sales, and researching new products to help you grow and expand.
That’s why you need to use the Dropified app, because it automates practically every task it takes to run your dropshipping business, where other apps fall short and require you to jump in daily and manually fulfill many time consuming tasks, costing you time, money and headaches.
When it comes to running a successful Shopify dropshipping store, Dropfied is here to help guide you. We’ve got hours of specialized training to help you with everything it takes to launch and run a profitable Shopify store.
Whether it’s learning how to research and find the best niche and products to sell in your store, or how to drive targeted customer traffic to your store, Dropified has you covered.

The best part about using Dropified to power your Shopify dropshipping store is all of the success our customers have had.
