One of the biggest questions when it comes to getting started with Dropshipping is always regarding how to find the best dropshipping products on platforms like AliExpress to start selling.
The fact is, there are a lot of ways to find great dropshipping products to sell and everyone has their own criteria for finding products.
You’ll probably get started with using some criteria like the ones we outline below…
…and then create your own according to the products you like and the comfort level you have for various products, profit margin and money to invest.
With that said, here’s a simple list to get you started:
- Look For Products That Can Sell For A Good Return (Retail For At Least $25 Plus)
- Look For Good Seller Ratings
- Reach Out To Sellers And See How Fast They Respond And If They Answer Your Questions
- Find Unique Products That You Can’t Find At Your Local Stores.
- Follow In-Depth Training From Experts That Are Already Doing What You Want To Be Doing
Now let’s look more closely into each of these criteria:
1. Look For Dropshipping Products That Can Sell For A Good Return (Retail For At Least $25 Plus)
We personally like to avoid selling products that retail for less than $25 because the profit margins tend to be too small to be profitable with items that retail for less than that.
Perceived value can also be low on cheaper products, in that people won’t want to wait several weeks for items to be shipped from China if they are really cheap to buy.
But the main reason is the profit that you’ll make won’t be very high on lower priced products.
2. Look For Good Seller Ratings
One of the biggest areas you need to review is the Seller Ratings on AliExpress. While you may find some really cool dropshipping products at a great price that you really want to sell, you need to read through the rating and feedback for each Seller to make sure they are legit and to make sure the quality is strong.
You also need to make sure they stand behind their products and will be ready to refund and replace products that don’t live up to their quality standards.
At the end of the day, you need to be able to trust the Sellers you are fulfilling your dropshipping products through, because they can make or break your business.
3. Reach Out To Sellers And See How Fast They Respond And If They Answer Your Questions
Going along with the previous answer, you should reach out to each Seller you are considering to see how they respond and how quickly they respond.
- Did they respond quickly?
- Did they respond correctly and / or accurately?
- Did they actually answer the question you asked them?
- Did you get the sense that they take you seriously and value your business?
Bottom line, you need to open the lines of communications first so that you get a sense for how they do business and if you get a good feeling about them or not.
We highly recommend reaching out to dozens of Sellers so that you start seeing how the good ones respond compared to the bad ones.
At the end of the day, the Sellers you work with are critical to the success of your business, so it’s best to weed out the bad ones before you ever get started with them.
4. Find Unique Products That You Can’t Find At Your Local Stores
Put yourself in your customers' shoes. If you could easily buy something at a local store, why would you buy from someone online, especially if it may take several weeks to receive the item?
Unless there is a massive price savings, most customers will not buy from you if they can simply and easily buy it locally or even from Amazon.
That’s why we highly encourage you to source unique products that are not found easily elsewhere.
That means that if something catches your eye on AliExpress, go right to Google and see how easy it is to find that same product through that search.
If you find it pop up right away through a bunch of different stores, then I’d pass on that product…
…unless you know you could sell it for a lot less than the competition and still make a good margin.
And we’re also not saying to avoid a product just because you find it through a Google search – we’re encouraging you to see where it’s being sold, and for how much.
If you find it on a bunch of obscure stores, but not on Amazon or other main online shopping venues, then it could be a good dropshipping product to sell since you could easily outperform those other stores.
If you really wanted to sell something that is showing a lot of competition, you could look to bundle it with some other related items so that you create a unique bundle that no one else is offering.
That’s an easy way to stand out from your competition and still sell the same product.
Dropshipping tools like Dropified make creating and fulfilling bundled dropshipping products a breeze.
5. Follow In-Depth Training From Experts That Are Already Doing What You Want To Be Doing
If you are serious about getting into dropshipping, then you really should take as much in-depth training as you can from people who have been successfully doing what you’d like to be doing.
In this case, there are loads of trainings out there on how to dropship and how to find dropshipping products.
Be careful though and make sure you learn from people who have a long track record of success, and avoid the “one-hit-wonders” that made a ton of money with one product, and are now selling a course.
Look instead for people who have been in the dropshipping game for years, who have had several successful stores and who have been able to teach a lot of other people how to succeed as well.
For example, as the creators of Dropified, we have thousands of success stories and we also have run our own highly successful dropship stores. SO we don’t just teach it, we’ve done it ourselves.
Even better, we provide hours worth of training to our students to help them grow and scale their businesses. It doesn’t matter whether you’re just getting started or are highly successful, we have training available for you to help you take the next step.
We also let you test-drive not only Dropified free for 14 days – but you can also go through our training series during that time as well.
So, if you’re serious about getting started with dropshipping and you want the best available training from people who have “been there and done that”…
