Amgen Inc., Microsoft share losses lead Dow's 100-point drop

Dragged down by declines for shares of Amgen Inc. and Microsoft, the Dow Jones Industrial Average is falling Thursday morning. Shares of Amgen Inc. AMGN, -3.02% and Microsoft MSFT, -2.32% are contributing to the blue-chip gauge’s intraday decline, as the Dow DJIA, -0.46% was most recently trading 100 points, or 0.3%, lower. Amgen Inc.’s shares have declined $5.74 (2.3%) while those of Microsoft are down $5.77, or 2.1%, combining for an approximately 76-point drag on the Dow. Other components contributing significantly to the decline include Merck MRK, -2.27%, Walgreens Boots WBA, -1.46%, undefined Verizon Communications Inc. VZ, -1.28%. A $1 move in any one of the 30 components of the Dow results in a 6.59-point swing.
