Dow's nearly 250-point fall led by losses in shares of American Express, UnitedHealth

Shares of American Express and UnitedHealth are trading lower Monday afternoon, dragging the Dow Jones Industrial Average into negative territory. The Dow DJIA, +0.26% was most recently trading 248 points, or 0.8%, lower, as shares of American Express AXP, -1.77% and UnitedHealth UNH, -1.46% have contributed to the blue-chip gauge’s intraday decline. American Express’s shares have fallen $5.63, or 3.2%, while those of UnitedHealth have dropped $12.75 (2.5%), combining for a roughly 121-point drag on the Dow. Coca-Cola KO, -1.81%, Boeing BA, -0.15%, and McDonald’s MCD, -1.01% are also contributing significantly to the decline. A $1 move in any of the index’s 30 components equates to a 6.59-point swing.
