Dow's 86-point drop led by losses for Visa, Merck shares

The Dow Jones Industrial Average is trading down Monday morning with shares of Visa and Merck seeing the biggest declines for the index. The Dow DJIA, +0.54% was most recently trading 86 points (0.3%) lower, as shares of Visa V, -1.27% and Merck MRK, -0.46% have contributed to the index’s intraday decline. Visa’s shares have declined $4.86, or 2.3%, while those of Merck have declined $1.46 (1.7%), combining for a roughly 42-point drag on the Dow. American Express AXP, -1.39%, Amgen Inc. AMGN, -0.81%, and Boeing BA, -0.61% are also contributing significantly to the decline. A $1 move in any one of the 30 components of the benchmark equates to a 6.59-point swing.
