Boeing, Caterpillar share gains contribute to Dow's nearly 50-point jump

Shares of Boeing and Caterpillar are seeing positive growth Thursday afternoon, lifting the Dow Jones Industrial Average into positive territory. The Dow DJIA, +0.11% is trading 45 points (0.1%) higher, as shares of Boeing BA, +3.46% and Caterpillar CAT, +1.84% are contributing to the index’s intraday rally. Boeing’s shares are up $7.93, or 3.7%, while those of Caterpillar are up $3.55 (1.6%), combining for a roughly 76-point boost for the Dow. Other components contributing significantly to the gain include Honeywell International Inc. HON, +0.79%, Dow Inc. DOW, +1.38%, and IBM IBM, +1.09%. A $1 move in any one of the 30 components of the index results in a 6.59-point swing.
