Dow falls nearly 50 points on losses in shares of American Express, JPMorgan Chase

The Dow Jones Industrial Average is falling Wednesday afternoon with shares of American Express and JPMorgan Chase delivering the stiffest headwinds for the index. The Dow DJIA, +0.00% was most recently trading 43 points (0.1%) lower, as shares of American Express AXP, -3.29% and JPMorgan Chase JPM, -2.70% are contributing to the blue-chip gauge’s intraday decline. American Express’s shares have dropped $6.18 (3.5%) while those of JPMorgan Chase are off $4.40 (2.7%), combining for a roughly 70-point drag on the Dow. Other components contributing significantly to the decline include Dow Inc. DOW, -1.37%, Visa V, -0.83%, and McDonald’s MCD, -0.70%. A $1 move in any one of the 30 components of the benchmark results in a 6.58-point swing.
