Dow down nearly 100 points on losses for shares of Chevron, Travelers

The Dow Jones Industrial Average is trading down Thursday morning with shares of Chevron and Travelers seeing the biggest drops for the blue-chip average. Shares of Chevron CVX, -1.28% and Travelers TRV, -1.37% have contributed to the index’s intraday decline, as the Dow DJIA, -0.06% was most recently trading 91 points (0.3%) lower. Chevron’s shares are off $2.05 (2.0%) while those of Travelers have fallen $2.30, or 1.5%, combining for a roughly 29-point drag on the Dow. JPMorgan Chase JPM, -0.61%, American Express AXP, -0.91%, and Verizon Communications Inc. VZ, -1.19% are also contributing significantly to the decline. A $1 move in any one of the 30 components of the benchmark results in a 6.58-point swing.
