elcome back to our LIVE coverage of all the latest transfer news, deals, gossip and rumours with the January window now just days away from opening.
While Covid-19 has had a huge impact on clubs’ finances across the world, big money was still spent in the summer window and will no doubt change hands once again as we enter 2021.
There will also be the chance to land some big players on pre-contract agreements for the summer, with Lionel Messi unlikely to sign a new deal at Barcelona following his extraordinary fallout with the club.
Manchester City look odds-on to land the Argentine legend with Pep Guardiola in charge, but a reunion with Neymar at PSG is also a distinct possibility.
It could be a case of one-in, one-out at the Etihad is reports are to be believed, with The Mirror claiming Real Madrid want to sign Phil Foden this summer.Â
Elsewhere, one player seemingly on Spurs’ own transfer wishlist is Marcel Sabitzer. It is claimed that the RB Leipzig midfielder is a £45million target for the north London club, with Barcelona rumoured to be keeping an eye on club-record signing Tanguy Ndombele.
Meanwhile, Arsenal are likely to continue their search for a creative midfield player, with The Athletic suggesting Borussia Dortmund’s Julian Brandt could fit the bill.Â

Real Madrid back in for Pogba?
It’s a long-running transfer rumour that never truly went away.
The Manchester United exit speculation is ramping up again for Paul Pogba, with Spanish publication AS reporting that the French midfielder has decided to investigate the chances of securing a move to Real Madrid in 2021.
It is speculated that his declining value amid those latest Old Trafford struggles plus the rising stock of Rennes’ teenage star Eduardo Camavinga could force Real into something of a transfer rethink.
Conte still eyeing Kante reunion
It appears that Antonio Conte is still keen on a reunion with N’Golo Kante.
According to reports from French TV station Canal carried by The Sun, the Inter Milan boss remains eager to take Chelsea’s ever-present battling midfielder to the San Siro.
Inter could make their move next summer, though reportedly could face competition from Real Madrid.
Foden set for huge Man City pay rise
Staying with City for a moment, reports claim that Phil Foden is poised to receive a bumper new deal at the Etihad.
The Star on Sunday report that City are preparing an improved contract for the England midfielder that will almost triple his £25,000 a week basic wage.
Negotiations with Foden – who recently returned to the senior Three Lions squad – are expected to be completed in the New Year.Â
Man City keen on Thuram
Manchester City are among the clubs interested in signing Marcus Thuram, reports suggest.
According to The Sun, the Premier League title hopefuls have their eye on the Borussia Monchengladbach winger, but could face stern competition from the likes of Barcelona and Juventus.
23-year-old Thuram – son of French legend Lilian, who played for both Juve and Barca during his illustrious career – has established a firm reputation as one of the Bundesliga’s brighest talents.
Why Aouar didn’t join Arsenal this summer
Lyon general manager Vincent Ponsot has opened up on why Houssem Aouar did not join Arsenal this summer.
Aouar was one of Mikel Arteta’s key midfield targets, but ultimately remained in France as the Gunners secured a deadline day deal for Atletico Madrid’s Thomas Partey instead.
“We had three big clubs for him [Aouar]. The first one was more for next season,†Ponsot explained to L’Equipe.
“The second one was related to the departure of a player, and with this club, we could have come to an agreement. The third club was Arsenal, who offered below the market value.
“We discussed it with the player’s entourage, and together we took the decision to say no.
“The priority for us was clearly to keep the team competitive. For us, the market was over, but the coach told us that we were missing a lateral defender and then a central defender.
“But in the medium term, if Mediapro [one of Ligue 1’s broadcast partners] doesn’t pay and the Covid continues, it will be the same.
“The economic situation is catastrophic for the football world. We are significantly impacted.
“On the market, there were two phases: reducing the number of players, which we did very well, and a second part concerning the players who could potentially leave.
“Finally, we could have transferred some of them, with a discount on the price. But even with the Covid impact, we decided to postpone.â€
West Ham eye Dembele bid
West Ham are pondering an offer for Lyon striker Moussa Dembele, according to reports.
The Sun claim that Lyon are willing to sell the French frontman, who has become frustrated with his role at the club.
It is said that Lyon would consider a bid of around £30m plus bonuses, with West Ham having money to spend and in need of more help up front with Sebastien Haller having proved something of a disappointment since his club-record move from Eintracht Frankfurt.
United also interested in Nagelsmann
ESPN also report that Mauricio Pochettino is not the only managerial target of interest at Manchester United.
Should Ole Gunnar Solskjaer get the boot, then RB Leipzig’s Julian Nagelsmann would also be a target.
Liverpool join Skriniar race
Have Tottenham missed out on one of their key transfer targets?
ESPN report that Liverpool are now looking at signing Milan Skriniar to fill in for the injured Virgil van Dijk, with Spurs having failed to land the centre-back during the summer.
Erling Haaland and Borussia Dortmund have an ‘agreement’ to part ways in the summer of 2022, according to AS.
Haaland, one of Europe’s most exciting talents, joined Dortmund last January with reports of a release clause agreed. AS deny this is the case, though Real Madrid are quietly confident of landing the Norwegian in 18 months time.
Arsenal’s interest in Szoboszlai ‘real’
Arsenal are interested in RB Salzburg midfielder Dominik Szoboszlai.
That’s according to the player’s agent, apparently.
Hungarian outlet Index claim agent Matyas Esterhazy recently said: “Arsenal’s interest is real.”
Arsenal have been linked with Szoboszlai in recent weeks, so one to keep an eye on.
