Dow's 125-point climb highlighted by gains for shares of Chevron, Caterpillar

The Dow Jones Industrial Average is climbing Friday morning with shares of Chevron and Caterpillar delivering strong returns for the index. Shares of Chevron CVX, +3.88% and Caterpillar CAT, +4.34% have contributed to the blue-chip gauge’s intraday rally, as the Dow DJIA, +0.83% was most recently trading 127 points higher (0.4%). Chevron’s shares have risen $2.23, or 2.5%, while those of Caterpillar are up $3.54, or 2.0%, combining for an approximately 38-point bump for the Dow. Other components contributing significantly to the gain include Dow Inc. DOW, +2.71%, Goldman Sachs GS, +1.75%, and JPMorgan Chase JPM, +0.91%. A $1 move in any one of the 30 components of the benchmark results in a 6.58-point swing.
