Caterpillar, Chevron share gains lead Dow's 200-point jump

Shares of Caterpillar and Chevron are trading higher Friday afternoon, propelling the Dow Jones Industrial Average into positive territory. The Dow DJIA, +0.61% was most recently trading 203 points (0.7%) higher, as shares of Caterpillar CAT, +4.22% and Chevron CVX, +3.46% have contributed about a quarter of the blue-chip gauge’s intraday rally. Caterpillar’s shares are up $7.14, or 4.1%, while those of Chevron are up $3.07 (3.4%), combining for an approximately 67-point boost for the Dow. Inc. CRM, +2.71%, IBM IBM, +2.71%, and Dow Inc. DOW, +2.53% are also contributing significantly to the gain. A $1 move in any one of the 30 components of the index equates to a 6.58-point swing.
